Night after night, Russia bombards Ukraine from the air. Ukraine responds as best it can with drones. This time the target of the attacks: the Crimean peninsula, which has been annexed by Moscow.

The Ukrainian General Staff reports heavy Russian attacks on the front in the east of the country. On the front near the small town of Toretsk alone, there were 29 Russian assaults, the military said in its morning report. A village called Nyu-York was particularly hotly contested there. The enemy also used glide bombs dropped from aircraft. Toretsk is in the Donetsk region, as is the second particularly affected front section, Pokrovsk. There, 26 attacks were reported. Russian troops are slowly continuing their advance here after capturing the town of Avdiivka in February.

The military information on individual battles may not be reliable in every detail, but overall the daily statistics provide an overview of the intensity and focus of the fighting. The General Staff spoke of 144 Russian attack attempts since Wednesday morning. According to an unofficial report, the Ukrainian troops had to abandon the village of Kalinivka near the town of Chasiv Yar.

According to Kiev, Russia used 16 combat drones and three guided missiles in nighttime air strikes. All drones and two of the missiles were shot down, the Ukrainian Air Force said.

For their part, the Ukrainians concentrated their attacks at night on the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. 33 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Crimea and two drones over the border region of Bryansk, the Defense Ministry in Moscow announced. In addition, ten sea drones were repelled off the coast of Crimea. The figures given cannot be independently verified. Shots were heard in the naval city of Sevastopol in Crimea at night. One of the remote-controlled combat boats was repelled there, explained city head Mikhail Rasvozhaev on his Telegram channel. There was no information on possible damage.

Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion for almost two and a half years.
