The US government has announced that it will review exhibitions in several Smithsonian Museums for its representation of American history. The aim is to ensure before the 250th birthday of the United States that no “split or party” narratives are spread from a government perspective.
In a letter to the Smithsonian Institution, the White House, exhibition texts, wall labels, websites and educational documents on tone, historical classification and “agreement with American ideals” called for.
