With the new regulation, critical features such as video downloading and background playback, which were previously only available in the upper segment package, became accessible to Lite users. According to the statement made by the platform, feedback from pilot regions played a major role in adding these features.
Users have long requested the opportunity to watch videos offline and listen to them with the screen off in order to use their subscriptions more efficiently. Taking these demands into consideration, YouTube decided to include some of the features exclusive to the full version package in the sub-package.

With the new regulation, Premium Lite subscribers will be able to play most of the videos in the background. This development comes after Google recently blocked non-Premium users from accessing the background playback feature through various methods. The company stated that this feature is exclusive to Premium subscribers and that the necessary updates have been made to provide a consistent experience on all platforms. This feature is now available to Premium Lite users as well.
Additionally, Premium Lite subscribers will be able to download most videos and watch them offline. These new features will be rolled out gradually starting today and will reach all Premium Lite subscribers in the coming weeks.
