An ex-brigadiery claims that Tehran had planned attacks in Europe. This also affects a murder case in Germany that Tehran officially denies.

A retired Iranian Brigadier general caused a sensation with statements about Tehran’s alleged participation in attacks in Europe before the turn of the millennium. In a now deleted interview with the portal “Didban”, Mohsen Rafikdust said that Iran was responsible for the murder of the former Prime Minister Schapur Bachtiar and the military commander Gholam Ali Oweissi from the Pahlavi Dynasty. Both were killed in France more than 30 years ago.

Rafikdust continued that Tehran was also responsible for the death of the government critic Fereydun Farochsad, who was murdered in German exile in 1992. “These attacks were carried out by a Basque group,” said the general in retirement. “They asked for payment for this murders. We paid the money to an Egyptian clergyman who lived in Germany,” he said.

Iran’s government officially denies the murder. This is also why the words of the former officer are extremely unusual. Media -related media denied the statements of Rafikdust.

The interview was removed because of a “weak basis”, reported the Tasnim news agency, which maintains close contacts with the revolutionary guards. It is hard to imagine that someone keeps complex actions secret for years, but then naive enough to disclose them, it said in a comment. “This increases the doubts about his credibility”
