For many in the capital it was a sleepless night. Russia’s military has again attacked Ukraine. President Zelensky accuses Moscow of targeted attacks on civilian targets.
Russia again massively attacked Ukraine from the air during the night – according to Ukrainian information, with around 430 drones as well as rockets and cruise missiles. At least four people were killed and 27 others injured in the capital Kiev, military administrator Tymur Tkachenko said. 15 of the injured are therefore being treated in hospital.
President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on social media of “sneaky shelling” and published photos and videos showing badly damaged houses. The attack was aimed at causing maximum damage to people and civilian infrastructure, he wrote.
The Azerbaijani embassy in the capital was also hit by debris from a rocket. According to Zelensky, Kiev was the main target of the attack, but the region around the capital and the Kharkiv and Odessa regions were also hit. According to preliminary information, a Zircon-type hypersonic missile was used in the Sumy region.
Zelenskyj once again called for further sanctions against Russia. Ukraine also needs to strengthen its air defense with additional systems and interceptor missiles, he again demanded.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on the Telegram platform that night there was numerous damage to residential buildings and several fires. Because the district heating network was also damaged, the heat supply was partially interrupted.
With Western help, Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian war of aggression for more than three and a half years.
