In Denmark, a flight ban for civil drones is reaching. The Bundeswehr is also on duty to secure a summit meeting of European leaders in Copenhagen.

After tracking down drones over several civil airports and military bases, Denmark imposed a nationwide flight ban on aircraft. The ban on civil drones is based on Monday to Friday next week, the government in Copenhagen announced on Sunday. The Danish military said that it was used in response to the nightly sightings of drones over bases and at airports “several capacities”, but made no further information on the type of reaction.

Denmark currently has the council chairmanship among the EU countries. On Wednesday, the EU heads of state and government meet for a summit in the Danish capital. On Thursday there will be a summit of the European Political Community (EPG), a forum of 47 countries that was founded after the Russian invasion in Ukraine in 2022. There the EU tips advise with representatives of the neighboring countries.

“We are currently in a difficult security situation and have to guarantee the best possible working conditions for the armed forces and the police,” said Denmark’s Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

The presence of the ship of the German Navy, which is used as part of the NATO mission “Baltic Sentry” to secure the Baltic Sea, send a clear signal for security and unity within the alliance, a NATO spokesman told TV2.
