Fintech cooperation from Türkiye and Spain

The Presidential Investment and Finance Office, in cooperation with the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, organized an event titled “Fintech Bridge: Spain&Türkiye 2026” in Madrid, the capital of Spain.

Leading experts of the financial technology ecosystem of the two countries made speeches at the event, which included Presidential Investment and Finance Office President Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, Spanish Export and Investment Agency (ICEX) Senior Manager Elisa Carbonell Martin, BBVA Senior Manager Onur Genç, Türkiye İş Bankası Deputy General Manager Sezgin Lüle, and Central Bank of Spain Technological Risk Group President Silvia Senabre.

Turkish and Spanish speakers, who analyzed current trends, shared their views on the future, and emphasized the importance of investment opportunities and new ways of cooperation, agreed on the need for more cooperation in the field of financial technology, with the existing capacities of the two countries and their close relations that manifest themselves in every field.

Drawing attention to Türkiye’s young population, geographical location and investment potential in his speech, Presidential Investment and Finance Office President Dağlıoğlu underlined that Türkiye has attracted investments reaching 290 billion dollars since 2003.

Stating that there are good relations between Türkiye and Spain in every field such as international diplomacy, defence, economy and cultural relations, Dağlıoğlu stated that they believe that the range of trade between the two countries will increase much more.

Dağlıoğlu also stated that the comprehensive reforms implemented by Türkiye enabled the formation of a durable investment ecosystem, brought the country to a much more competitive position on a global scale, and this gave great confidence to investor companies.

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Madrid Nüket Küçükel Ezberci emphasized that we are going through a historic period globally and emphasized that there are great opportunities for Spain and Türkiye in digitalization and new technologies that come to the fore in the reshaped world.

Stating that Spanish companies always see Türkiye on their road maps and that a strategic partnership has been established between the two countries, Madrid Chamber of Commerce Vice President Elsa Salvadores said, “Turkey is always a bridge for us. We are strong in our commercial relations in the banking, textile and automotive sectors, and now we want to show this in new technologies and further strengthen the ties that unite us.” he said.

Spanish Export and Investment Agency (ICEX) Senior Manager Elisa Carbonell Martin also stated that Türkiye “demonstrated an extraordinary performance” in the financial technology ecosystem.

Speaking at the event, BBVA Senior Manager Onur Genç and Türkiye İş Bankası Deputy General Manager Sezgin Lüle underlined that digitalization, artificial intelligence and technology are very important for the banking sector.
