The amount Türkiye paid for energy imports increased by 43.4 percent in May compared to the same month last year, reaching 6 billion 105 million 604 thousand dollars.
According to the provisional foreign trade statistics created by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Commerce, Türkiye’s total imports in May were determined as 28 billion 70 million 620 thousand dollars, decreasing by 10.8 percent compared to the same month of 2025.
6 billion 105 million 604 thousand dollars of this amount consisted of “mineral fuels, mineral oils and products obtained from their distillation, bituminous substances, mineral waxes”, which are summarized as energy imports.
In May last year, this figure was recorded as 4 billion 258 million 662 thousand dollars. Thus, the amount of energy imports increased by 43.4 percent on an annual basis.
During this period, crude oil imports increased by 1.71 percent and reached 2 million 665 thousand 664 tons.
