Türkiye’s licensed electricity production increased by 3 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year and 29 million 449 thousand 260 megawatts.

According to the “Electricity Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), 28.3 percent of licensed electricity generation natural gas power plants, 25 percent of imported coal power plants, 16.4 percent hydroelectric power plants, 10.8 percent lignite power plants, 10 percent of the wind power plants and 3,7 percent were provided.

These sources were followed by biomass, sun, hard coal, asphaltite and fuel-Oil, respectively.

The amount of electricity consumption bills increased by 5.4 percent in the same period to 24 million 744 thousand 757 megawatts.

41.1 percent of consumption was industrial, 29.9 percent of the residential subscribers, 25.4 percent of the public and private services sector subscribers were made by subscribers. The share of lighting was 2.5 percent and the share of agricultural activities was recorded as 1.1 percent.

Consumer Number and Installed Power Increased

The number of consumers in electricity increased by 2.1 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 50 million 781 thousand 899.

In this period, according to January 2024, the number of agricultural activity consumers increased by 2.5 percent, the number of public and private services sector and other consumers increased by 2.2 percent, while the number of lighting and residential consumers increased by 2.1 percent and 0.6 percent in the number of industrial consumers.

Türkiye’s licensed electricity installed power increased by 1.2 percent in this period to 97 thousand 505 megawatts.

Natural gas cycle plants, 24.5 percent of the installed power, 24.5 percent of the dam hydroelectric power plants, 13.2 percent of the wind plants, 10.7 percent of imported coal power plants, and the remaining part of the other energy sources of electricity producing facilities.
