It was reported that Norway and Germany signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of defense in Munich.

NRK, broadcasting in Norway, announced that a defense agreement was signed between the two countries within the framework of the 62nd Munich Security Conference (MSC) with the participation of Norwegian Minister of Defense Tore Onshuus Sandvik and German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius.

In his statement to NRK, Sandvik said, “We have many defense agreements, but we are currently in a period where we have signed much more comprehensive and broad defense agreements. We did this before with England, and now we are doing this with Germany.” he said.

Pointing out that Europe should take more responsibility, Sandvik said, “Germany is one of Norway’s most important allies in Europe and its most important partner in the European Union (EU). Now we are taking this close and strong cooperation one step further.” he said.

It was noted that the agreement, called “Hansa”, included cooperation in space-based surveillance, maritime security, operations in the North Atlantic and the North Sea, and defense industry.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also attended the signing ceremony in Munich.
