Throughout the country, daily policy production increased by 55 percent in the days following the earthquake.
However, as it was observed after every major earthquake, this increasing tendency returns to the usual course after a while, while DASK continues its activities with the aim of taking all houses under compulsory earthquake insurance and making insurance consciousness permanent in the society.
On the other hand, in the last 25 years since the establishment of DASK, the number of ZDS policies in Turkey has reached approximately 12 million.

Compulsory Earthquake Insurance offers financial assurance against earthquake -based risks
In order to have ZDS, a comprehensive insurance system developed for dwellings, it is deemed sufficient to be registered with the title deed and subject to private property. ZDS can also be arranged for all houses that are not included in the public treasury lands. In case of a possible damage, the payment of compensation shall be made to the right holder registered in the title deed.
In the scope of ZDS, buildings registered to the title deed and built as a dwelling on the immovable properties subject to private property enter. In addition, independent departments such as markets, grocery stores, hairdressers and attorney offices, which are used for different purposes such as commercial houses and office, are included in the insurance.
However, the ZDS policy cannot be issued even if the buildings registered as “commercials” in the title deed are used as a dwelling. In such a case, the quality of the relevant building in the title deed should be changed, that is, the phrase “Trade House” with the “Genus Cashihi” process should be updated as “residential”.
The main criterion here is seen as the protection of the residential integrity of the buildings built as housing, while the discretionary earthquake insurance can be provided for buildings outside the scope of ZDS.
ZDS offers financial assurance not only against the direct effects of the earthquake, but also against risks such as earthquake -based fire, explosion, ground shift and tsunami.
Even if the housing becomes completely unusable, ZDS contributes to the return of life in a short time by ensuring the fastest compensation of damaged buildings.
