Chinese Prime Minister Li Chiang gave the message that China would be more integrated with the world economy by adhering to the policy of opening out of China at a time when uncertainty prevailed due to the tariff policies of the USA.
Speaking at the opening of the 16th New Champions Annual Meeting, which is also known as “Summer Davos” in Tiencin, China, the World Economic Forum (Wef), China, pointed out that the world economy and international trade are facing new difficulties and tests due to protective tendencies.
Li said that China will continue to integrate into the world economy despite the uncertainty created by tariff increases, weakening trade and increasing protectionist tendencies, “China will open its doors more to the world.” he said.
Li pointed out that the current international economic and commercial environment has gone through a deep transformation due to geopolitical factors, technological development and economic changes in the economic structure and evaluated the reflections of this.
Global South’s share in trade is increasing
Li pointed out that the international economy and trade have become more diverse over the years, and the trade volume and share of developing countries, known as the “global south”, has increased.
Li underlined that the trade volume of developed countries in parallel with the general tendency has increased by 4.6 times in the last 20 years, while the share of the global southern countries has increased by 4.6 times.
Li said that international trade has slowed down in traditional sectors, however, accelerated in the rising sectors, while global goods trade increased by 2 percent in 2024, while the services trade constituted 60 percent of total global trade with an increase of 8.8 percent.
On the other hand, the rapid development in different technologies has expanded the boundaries of trade, digital trade and green trade has grown rapidly Li pointed out that the export of global digital service in 2024 has increased twice as much as 10 years ago.
Protective measures on the rise
Prime Minister Li, protectionist measures worldwide increased, 2019 global trade up to 200 discriminatory obstacles in 2024, 6 times this number reached 1200, he noted.
Stating that many countries have entered different searches to protect trade due to discriminatory practices, Li pointed out that the number of bilateral and small -scale economics and trade agreements increased, and that there were 100 agreements in the world at the beginning of the 21st century, and that it exceeded 600 today.
Li also said that border excessive investments also tend to decrease, and that the restrictive policies implemented by different countries to foreign investments pushed multinational companies to act more cautious about investment decisions.
Stating that the global border has declined for 3 years, Li said that it fell to 40 percent of the hill level in 2024.
“China will become a mega -scale consumption force”
Li said that the Chinese economy, which provides 30 percent of global economic growth, has become the engine of the world economy, and that the continuously developing and updated Chinese market will provide the new growth areas and acceleration of the global economy and trade.
Li underlined that China is currently the second largest importer country and consumer market in the world and that it is on its way to becoming a high -income country.
“In recent years, we are implementing special incentives to revitalize consumption within the framework of the strategy of expanding domestic demand. This will make China a manufacturing power as well as a mega -scale consumption force.”
Li stressed that the development of the Chinese market will provide more market spaces for entrepreneurs from all over the world.
