Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said, “In order to support the increase in employment, which is one of the basic elements of increasing social and economic welfare, we, on the one hand, take care of employment in labor-intensive sectors, and on the other hand, we continue to implement new programs to increase the quality of employment.” he said.

Yılmaz shared about the labor force statistics for January 2026 on his social media account.

“Thanks to the policies we have implemented decisively, the unemployment rate continues to remain at its single-digit level. According to seasonally adjusted data in January 2026, the unemployment rate has continued its course in single digits for the 33rd month with 8.1 percent.” Making his evaluation, Yılmaz stated that the unemployment rate among young people and women decreased by one point compared to the same month last year, reaching 14.3 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

We are implementing the POWER (Youth Production Age) program in order to encourage the active participation of the potential workforce in the economy, facilitate the transition of young people to employment, improve their production-oriented skills and thus increase youth employment. We are implementing new support programs in order to increase our companies’ access to finance and support investment and employment.”

In this context, Cevdet Yılmaz reminded that they increased the support amount per employee offered to businesses in the textile, clothing, leather and furniture sectors to 3500 Turkish liras, included large-scale companies in the scope of support, and also launched a new financing program of 100 billion Turkish liras especially for SMEs in the manufacturing industry, and said, “We aim to permanently increase social welfare within the perspective of strengthening balanced growth and stability with our investment, employment, production and export-oriented policies.” he said.
