Acting with the responsibility of being the only technical university of South Marmara and Bursa, Bursa Technical University (BTU) develops solutions to problems such as technology, environment and society. BTU made significant contributions to the country and the city with its projects prepared and implemented. This time it took action for climate change. In this respect, the project titled “Examining the Effect of Urban Coemantic Faculty of Herbal, Structural and Specific Factors in Light Green Areas in Light Green Areas in Light Green Areas” received support. Professor of the Department of Landscape Architecture Assoc. Dr. Kamil Erken’s advisor and undergraduate student Eray Gümüş as a scholarship project with the project will be tried to reduce the effects of climate change in the city, including Bursa Pilot Area.
Measurements are made in plants, buildings and flooring materials
Within the scope of the project, temperature measurements will be taken from many points within the scope of the study in order to fully determine the cooling and temperature effect of planted and non -planting areas on the city. Plant species shadows, ground covering bushes, non -afforestation and built area, 4 different height building shadow, 15 different flooring materials, parking afforestation made and made of different flooring materials, and different flooring materials will be found more to cool and which materials increase the temperature will be revealed.
Bioclimatic places will be created in the city
Within the scope of the study, the plants found in public and light green areas, the city’s cooling and impact distance will be examined, indicating that the project manager Research Officer Onur Aksoy, the target, to adapt to climate change is to make an innovative contribution, he said. Research Assistant Aksoy, “This study, which will be carried out in important light green areas of Bursa, will increase the climate resistance of the city and contribute to the creation of comfortable spaces bioclimatic.“he said.
It will contribute to gray and blue infrastructure
Onur Aksoy emphasized that the cooling effect of the flooring materials to be used within the scope of gray infrastructure will be increased. “Thanks to our research, the selection of ultraviolet rays and reflected light ratio which is harmful to human health can be selected. The cooling effect in the immediate vicinity of the water surfaces will be investigated and contributed to the blue infrastructure. In addition, the planning of public light green areas planned to be made in the future will be established.“he said.
Assoc. Dr. Congratulating Kamil Erken and Research Assistant Onur Aksoy, BTU Rector Prof.Dr. Dr. Naci Çağlar, “Your academicians produce projects for their solution, not indifferent to their problems such as environmental pollution, sectoral problems and disaster events of Bursa and our country. Finally, I wish that this project for the climate resistance put forward will bring a solution to the problem of climate change, and I would like to thank our academicians for putting such a useful project.“he said.
