Great Britain also wants to upgrade again. The Ministry of Defense calls out a close schedule – and relies on unusual procedures.
The British Ministry of Defense is planning to develop a new drone system as part of the “Volley” project that enables the quick start of several drones. According to a report by the “UK Defense Journal”, mobile shooting devices should be able to start five drones within four minutes, each drone firing every minute. The system of large vehicles such as a Mercedes Sprinter or other vans can be used.
The drones should make do without rocket -based starting aids in the presentation of the Ministry. Other requirements are that drones should be up to 125 kilograms, they should withstand temperature of minus 20 to 55 degrees Celsius.
The system should be able to be composed without much effort. In addition, the finished drone should be as poor as possible due to the noise and also due to temperature.
The tender excludes autonomous systems – so human operation is a must. The finished product should be ready for use in early 2026. International partners from NATO are invited to participate in the project.
