Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes made a written statement on the issue.

In the statement, it was stated that X appointed lawyer Rachel de Oliveira Villa Nova Conceiçao as his legal representative in the country, and X was requested to submit the necessary documents for his representative within 5 days.

According to news reports in the Brazilian press on September 20, X had agreed to appoint a representative to the country.

ACCESS BARRIER HAS BEEN IMPOSED

In Brazil, the Supreme Court requested X to provide data on certain individuals and block certain accounts as part of the “coup attempt” investigation into former President Jair Bolsonaro. After the request was rejected, the Court gave X 24 hours to appoint a legal representative in the country.

After the company failed to appoint a legal representative in Brazil within the given time, the Brazilian Supreme Court announced on August 31 that access to X had been blocked “until the representative is appointed and the imposed fines are paid.”

Elon Musk also reacted to the decision in a post on X, saying, “Freedom of expression is the cornerstone of democracy and the unelected so-called judge in Brazil is destroying it for political reasons.”
