Bill Gates criticizes Elon Musk sharply. The “Gulf of Mexico” is now referred to as “Gulf of America” in the United States – and Google directs. All developments in the news blog.
7.21 a.m.: The Microsoft founder Bill Gates criticizes the tech billionaire Elon Musk sharply for his interference in the politics of other countries. “I thought the rules of the game were so that you choose a limited number of things about which you express yourself and focus on a few critical things instead of telling people who you should choose,” says Gates in an interview with the British “Times”. Gates himself is active via the “Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation”, especially in health policy and as a philanthropic.
Nevertheless, he does not want to be compared to Musk and says that he and Musk are “ultra-different”. “It is really insane that he can destabilize the political situation in countries,” said Gates. In the United States, foreigners are not allowed to donate money for political purposes. Gates recommends to take similar measures to other countries. Gates expresses incomprehension that Musk at the same time maintains factories in China and Germany, which is dependent on his business with the company SpaceX on sovereign states, for Trump should reduce government expenditure by two trillion US dollars, lead five companies at the same time and even in Politicians interfere in Great Britain or Germany, for example.
The latter particularly criticizes Gates: “You want to promote the right wing, but say that Nigel Farage is not right enough … I mean, that’s insane. You are for the AfD (in Germany).” Musk interference describes Gates as “populist agitation”.
4.30 a.m.: According to Donald Trump, Microsoft is negotiating the popular video app in the Tiklok video platform in the USA. The US software group has talks about the purchase of Tiktok from the Chinese parent company bytedance, said Trump on Monday. He would welcome it if there was a bidwetting around the app. Trump had previously said that he was talking to several parties about the purchase of Tiktok. He wanted to make a decision about the future of the app within the next 30 days. Microsoft and Tikkok initially did not respond to inquiries from Reuters outside of regular business hours.
The video platform with around 170 million users in the United States was temporarily switched off in January because a law requested the sale or prohibition from January 19 for reasons of national security. After the Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit against the ban, the app, especially popular with young people, was initially switched off. TIKTOK and bytedance are suspected of espionage because of its proximity to the government in Beijing.
3.52 a.m.: The internet giant Google responded to the renaming of the “Gulf of Mexico” by US President Donald Trump. As soon as the change in the US Geographic Name system is official, it will in future be referred to in Google Maps as the “Golf of America”-at least for US users, the company said at short message service X. In Mexico it remains the name “Golf of Mexico”. Outside the United States and Mexicos, users will see both names on Google Maps. Trump had rededicated the sea region by decree.
