The EU currently sees a time window for negotiations until July 9th. In the event of a failure of the negotiations, the EU is preparing counter -tariffs, which, according to Brussels, could come into force from July 14th. U.S. President Donald Trump recruited his early departure from the G7 summit in Canada because of the Middle East crisis. “I have to go back, very important,” said Trump on Monday evening (local time) in the traditional “family photo” with the other heads of state and government of the group of states to a question of journalists. He wanted to thank the “great host” Canada, “but they probably see what I see and I have to be back as quickly as I can”.
Trump said to the summit: “I loved it. And I think we got a lot done.” He spoke of a “really good relationship” to the other participants. He added: “I wish I could stay for tomorrow, but they understand that. It’s big stuff.” He announced that he was still dinner with his “wonderful” G7 colleagues and then climbing on the plane. The working dunks should be about geopolitical topics.
