As a diver, he is said to have participated in the sabotage of the “Nord Stream” gas pipelines. For over a year, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office is looking for a European arrest warrant for Wolodymyr Z. – Now it is caught.

The Federal Prosecutor’s office confirmed the arrest of a suspect in Poland in connection with the North Stream Sabotage in September 2022. As the Karlsruhe authority announced, it is a trained diver who was probably part of the group that placed explosive devices near the island of Bornholm on the North Stream gas pipelines. The Ukrainian is said to have been involved in the necessary dives.

The top German law enforcement officers accuse Wolodymyr Z. It is now to be transferred to Germany and is shown there to the investigative judge of the Federal Court of Justice. However, delivery can take several weeks or months.

A spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Warsaw said that his authority would be presented to the district court next to seven days. During this time, the corresponding documents would have to be requested from the German side and translated into Polish. After receiving these documents, further measures are taken. The public prosecutor will, if necessary, apply for delivery of this man in accordance with the European arrest warrant.

The attack in autumn 2022 had made headlines worldwide. The two pipelines damaged several blasts so much that no gas could be passed through. The explosions were registered near Bornholm. A little later, four leaks were discovered on three of the four lines. Russian natural gas previously flowed to Germany through Nord Stream 1. Nord Stream 2 was not yet in operation as a result of the Russian attack war against Ukraine.
