The US activist Charlie Kirk, arrested in the case of the killed right-wing US activist, refuses to work with the authorities. The investigators now tried to determine a motive for the crime through talks with friends and family, said the governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, on Sunday. The 22-year-old suspected shooter Tyler Robinson will be formally charged on Tuesday. He remains in custody in Utah. Robinson had not confessed to the investigators, said Cox to the broadcaster ABC. “He does not cooperate, but cooperate in his environment, and I think that’s very important,” said the Republican governor. When asked whether the roommate’s gender identity was relevant for the investigation, Cox said, that is exactly what is currently trying to find out.
Robinson, a student, was arrested in his parents’ house after a 33-hour search. Although he grew up in a conservative region, “his ideology was very different from that of his family,” said Cox without naming. According to an arrest warrant, Robinson had expressed an aversion to Kirk and his views. Investigators found engravings in four cartridge sleeves. These contained references to internet memes and video games. An inscription was therefore: “Hey Faschist! Catch!”, An allusion to a popular video game.
After the Israeli attack in Qatar, US President Donald Trump called Israel to “caution” in dealing with the Golfemirate. “Qatar has proven to be a very good ally. Israel and everyone else, we have to be careful. If we attack people, we have to be careful,” said Trump on Sunday (local time) in front of reporters.
Trump had critically commented shortly after the attacks.
