Action is being taken for the “common language project” that excites the Turkic world. The other day, Kazakh President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev made a proposal for a “Great Turkic Language Model” using artificial intelligence in his speech at the “Informal Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States” held in Shusha, Azerbaijan. In his speech, Tokayev also drew attention to the fact that a common language and alphabet could be created in the Turkic world thanks to advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and satellite systems. The meaning of the project to develop the “Great Turkic Language Model” with artificial intelligence, which was on the agenda at the summit, aroused curiosity.
IT IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT TURKISH
Turkologist Prof. Dr. Özkul Çobanoğlu said that it would be possible to develop a common Turkish language and alphabet using artificial intelligence, and added, “With artificial intelligence, TTo develop the Turkish language; structures that everyone can easily understand can be created on a word basis between Turkish dialects and Turkish accents. Technologies that make instant language-to-language translations in the internet environment are in our lives. “Probably Kazakh President Tokayev is also proposing similar programs. Of course, Turkish cannot be used without us on the path to world domination. Frankly, I am very happy that such a proposal has been made,” he said.
IT CAME ON THE AGENDA IN 1992
Prof. Dr. Hayati Develi, a faculty member at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Letters, stated that the Turkic peoples became closer after the collapse of the USSR and said: “A congress was held at Marmara University in 1992 and a common alphabet was declared. Scientists who participated in the former Soviet society also signed it. The alphabet proposal in question was an improved version of the alphabet we use today with 4 new signs. In the process that followed, some Turkish states switched to the Latin alphabet. However, they did not use the alphabet that was accepted in this symposium in its entirety, but rather used an alphabet that was modified to suit their own needs.”
WILL COME INTO EFFECT
“Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have switched to the Latin alphabet. Finally, Kazakhstan has taken an important step in terms of the alphabet. Although a common alphabet is not currently used in the Turkic world, wishes and suggestions are important. Perhaps in 100 years we will use a common alphabet. As political and economic relations develop, some revisions will be made to this new alphabet. “In the near future, a single alphabet system used by all Turkic peoples may come into force. The language revolution experience in Turkey is an important example for the Turkic peoples.”
DIFFERENCE IS RESOLVED
Technology Expert Tanol Türkoğlu also stated that developing a “Great Turkish Language Model” means developing an artificial intelligence similar to GPT, and said: “The most important difference is that this artificial intelligence will be developed by feeding only on Turkish content. However, it is natural that when we say Turkish here, we mean all dialects and accents of Turkish origin.”
“What we group as the Turkish Republics today are all the Turkish dialects spoken in the Balkans, extending through Turkey-Azerbaijan to China. Artificial intelligence technology “It can make very serious contributions to studies that will cover all these languages. This will especially help close the digital gap that arises from language differences. The development of an artificial intelligence based on Turkic languages will accelerate the use of artificial intelligence in every field from science to art, from commerce to daily life in this language family.”
