US soldiers have an accident during a military exercise in Poland

Eight US soldiers were injured, one of them seriously, in an accident involving an American military truck in Poland. The accident occurred not far from the military training area in Drawsko Pomorskie in the west of the country, as a spokesman for the Polish military police told the broadcaster Rmf.fm. “The soldiers were on their way to an exercise. They were sitting on the truck bed and on benches. The right wheel of the vehicle hit the side of the road and tipped over on its side.” The most likely cause of the accident is driver inattention.

The US economy started the year worse than previously expected. The gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 1.6 percent from January to March for the entire year, as the US Department of Commerce announced on Thursday. It thus revised down its previous estimate from the end of April of 2.0 percent. This was justified by lower investment and private consumer spending than previously assumed. In the previous quarter there was only an increase of 0.5 percent – also because of the budget dispute that largely brought government business to a standstill for 43 days in the fall.
