According to the Israeli government, the Gaza Hamas boss Mohammad Sinwar was killed.
The head of the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Sinwar, was killed, according to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We eliminated Mohammed Sinwar,” said Netanyahu on Wednesday at a meeting of the Israeli parliament.
There had already been reports about the possible death of Mohammed Sinwar last week. Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said at the time that he assumed that Sinwar was “switched off”.
Mohammed Sinwar is the younger brother of the Hamas manager Jahja Sinwar killed last year. After the killing of the Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif, he had become head of the armed arm of the Islamist organization in July last year.
After an Israeli attack on a hospital in Chan Junis, Israeli media had recently reported in the southern Gaza strip that he was considered Mohammed Sinwar. There was initially no official confirmation. According to the hospital, several people were killed in the attack last week. The Israeli army announced that it was a “precise attack on Hamas terrorists in a command and control center”.
According to an unconfirmed Arab media report, Mohammed Sinwar’s body is said to have been found in a tunnel in Chan Junis. Israel’s army could not confirm this on request in the morning.
