The stories published on the app have become so popular that some have been turned into books and some have been adapted into movies.
However, the site was blocked from access in Turkey yesterday. The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) page includes the following statement regarding the access ban: “wattpad.com has been blocked from access by the decision of the Ankara 10th Criminal Court of Peace, dated 12/07/2024 and numbered 2024/6507 D.İş.”
Previously, access to many sites such as Twitch, EkşiSözlük, Wikipedia and YouTube were blocked in Turkey.
