In his written statement, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the agreement in question was signed by Es’hailSat President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ali Ahmed Al-Kuwari and Türksat General Manager Ahmet Hamdi Atalay in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
Pointing out that the cooperation will strengthen the commercial capacity of Türksat-Biruni and further increase Türkiye’s global effectiveness in the field of satellite communications, Uraloğlu noted that within the scope of the agreement, the capacity of the high data capacity Ka-Band Es’hail-3/Türksat-Biruni satellite, which will operate in 50 degrees east orbit, will be used jointly.
Uraloğlu emphasized that not only a new satellite project was implemented with this cooperation, and made the following evaluation:
“With the cooperation covering the Es’hail-3/Türksat-Biruni satellite project, the two companies established a long-term strategic partnership in line with capacity sharing and common commercial growth goals. With the cooperation, we are also taking an important step that will strengthen Türkiye’s presence in space, increase its access to new markets and increase its competitiveness in the field of satellite communications.”
TURKSAT WILL PROVIDE NEW SATELLITES TO ITS FLEET
Emphasizing that the project will provide significant gains to Türksat, Uraloğlu said:
“Thanks to the project to be implemented with Qatari financing, we will add a new satellite with high data capacity to our fleet. Thus, we will further strengthen our country’s satellite communication infrastructure with the additional capacity that will be available to Türksat. Within the scope of the cooperation, the satellite assets, ground infrastructures, distribution networks and customer portfolios of the two companies will be evaluated together. We will use our resources more efficiently by sharing infrastructure investments. We aim to maximize the commercial potential of Türksat-Biruni from the first day by optimizing capacity utilization. “Within the scope of the project, we will further strengthen our country’s satellite communication infrastructure with a capacity of up to 50 Gbps that will be available to Türksat.”
Uraloğlu stated that the project will be implemented by preserving the strategic rights that Türkiye has, and that the frequency and orbit rights in the 50 degrees east orbit will be preserved and that no rights will be transferred within the scope of the project.
Stating that the satellite to be launched will be registered on behalf of TÜRKSAT with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Uraloğlu pointed out that in this way, existing rights will be secured and a new generation high-capacity satellite will be added to the fleet.

Uraloğlu pointed out that Türksat-Biruni will serve in a wide geography and made the following statements:
“Thanks to this partnership we have established with Qatar, we will create a much stronger service network in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Central Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. By combining TÜRKSAT’s technical infrastructure and experience with the regional power of Es’hailSat, we will obtain new opportunities on a global scale. The partnership will provide services to many different sectors. In addition to high-capacity broadband internet services, we will also offer important solutions in the fields of aviation and maritime mobility services, communication needs of public institutions and corporate data communication. We will meet the increasing need for connectivity. “We will respond stronger.”
Uraloğlu emphasized that the agreement in question adds a new dimension to the strategic cooperation between Turkey and Qatar, and stated that the partnership established in the field of space and satellite technologies will further carry the strong relations between the two countries.
Pointing out that the country will increase its effectiveness in satellite communications with Türksat-Biruni, Uraloğlu noted that Türkiye’s position in the global satellite market will also be strengthened.
