Many health insurance companies are currently considering a merger, also because political pressure is increasing. But one project has now fallen through.

The merger between Vivida BKK and BKK Scheufelen was supposed to be finalized on January 1, 2027, but now the two company health insurance companies are canceling the planned merger. “During the course of the preparations, it became clear that the expectations associated with the merger could not be sufficiently fulfilled,” said Vivida BKK. The merger of the two health insurance companies will therefore not be pursued any further; both health insurance companies will therefore remain independent.

The second planned merger was canceled this year. BIG had already recovered in May and Salus BKK had decided not to pursue existing plans.

Even if the health insurance companies speak out against forced mergers, the search for partners is going on at full speed. Numerous health insurance companies have announced mergers in recent months, such as BKK Firmus and Heimat Krankenkasse as well as BKK Pfalz and mkk. The merger of IKK healthy plus and IKK Brandenburg has already been completed Berlin: Since October 1st, they have been operating together as IKK Gesund Plus.
