Economists participating in AA Finans’ expectations survey expect the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) to reduce the policy rate by 100 basis points to 36 percent in October.

The expectation survey organized by AA Finans for the CBRT’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting to be held on Thursday, October 22 resulted in the participation of 20 economists.

19 of the economists participating in the expectations survey predict that the policy rate will be reduced by 100 basis points, and one predicts that it will be reduced by 200 basis points.

The median expectation of economists for the October MPC decision was that the policy rate would be reduced to 36 percent.

The median year-end policy rate expectations of the economists participating in the survey was 35 percent. At the MPC meeting held in September, the policy rate was not changed and was kept constant at 37 percent.
