Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates called for urgent international control, drawing attention to the global dangers of artificial intelligence ranging from biological threats to cybersecurity risks and mass unemployment.
Declaring building a safe artificial intelligence future as “the world’s number one priority” by putting it ahead of the climate crisis and global health problems, Gates is accelerating international diplomacy traffic.
The billionaire businessman, who plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in November, will present a global cooperation proposal to the Beijing administration to limit artificial intelligence risks. Stating that China may agree to restrict the spread of dangerous models if the USA takes the lead, Gates emphasized that the biological attack capacity of artificial intelligence and its ability to produce molecules should be monitored by an international mechanism.

Gates stated that the level reached by artificial intelligence systems has reached frightening levels; He pointed out that models developed by giants such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta hacked real websites in cyber security tests. Stating that such developments should shake people, Gates reiterated his call for the establishment of a new global organization modeled on nuclear control regimes and international aviation rules. Explaining that he would discuss the issue with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Gates stated that users should become psychologically dependent on these systems and that children should be protected against artificial intelligence friendships.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE COULD SHAKE UP THE LABOR MARKET
Stating that artificial intelligence will cause major disruptions in the employment market, Gates argued that at least 40 percent of existing jobs should be protected for people. Gates suggested taxing companies that generate income using artificial intelligence outputs or “tokens” instead of human employees, and noted that social safety nets can be financed with this collected resource.
Emphasizing that human connection cannot be replaced in some professions, citing the care he received from his late father, who had Alzheimer’s disease, as an example, Gates stated that social protests against data centers overshadowed the real danger and warned: “Wait for the time when you really disrupt the labor market.”
