South Korea-based chip manufacturer “SK hynix” announced that it will invest approximately 54 trillion won ($38 billion) to establish two new memory chip production facilities as the demand for artificial intelligence-related memory continues to increase.
According to reports in the South Korean press, the company announced that it will establish two separate memory chip facilities, one with an investment of $24.8 billion and the other with an investment of $13.47 billion.
With these investments, the company aims to increase both DRAM and NAND memory capacity of SK hynix in the face of rapidly increasing demand triggered by artificial intelligence infrastructure.
According to the statement, the construction of the facilities is planned to start in 2027 and be completed in 2029.
