Iran threatens Israel with “harsh response”
The Iranian army has threatened a “tough response” after Israel’s attacks in southern Lebanon that left at least four dead. If the Israeli army “does not cease its aggression in southern Lebanon, it must expect a harsh response from the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said a televised statement from the army’s central command on Tuesday.
The Iranian army accused Israel of having violated the ceasefire in Lebanon “84 times.” The Israeli army continued its attacks in southern Lebanon on Tuesday despite an agreement reached between the US and Iran to end the Iran war. According to state media, four people were killed.
Insider: US-Iran deal includes $300 billion fund
According to insiders, as part of the planned agreement between the USA and Iran, a private investment fund of 300 billion dollars is earmarked for the reconstruction of the country. More than half of that amount has already been committed, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters. The fund should provide both sides with an economic incentive to conclude a final agreement. The US and Iran are preparing to sign the agreement on Friday. On Sunday, both states agreed on a framework to end their conflict, which has been ongoing since February.
According to the insider, the planned “Fund for Reconstruction and Development” is a private investment instrument without state money or subsidies. Commitments have been made by companies from the USA, the Gulf States, Asia, South America and Africa, it said. The investments should be in the areas of energy, logistics and industry
and transport flow. Accordingly, the fund will only become active after a final agreement has been concluded.
A memorandum to be signed on Friday will structure the process for the next 60 days. According to Iranian government circles, the leadership in Tehran had originally demanded $400 billion in war reparations from the USA, which Washington rejected.
USA apparently allows Iran to sell oil immediately
The US is allowing Iran to immediately sell oil and fuel as part of its agreement in principle to end the war, according to a media report. The suspension of sanctions will come into force as soon as the agreement is signed this week, reports the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the process. The agreement is scheduled to be signed in Lucerne on Friday.
