Here we go – US Army attacks Iran

There was actually a ceasefire in the Iran war, but now the USA is attacking again. A diplomatic solution seems increasingly unlikely.

The US military says it has begun new attacks on several targets in Iran on orders from US President Donald Trump. “The attacks are a response to Iran’s unjustified and ongoing aggression,” said Centcom, the US regional command responsible for the Middle East, on the X platform. The latest attacks began at 5:15 p.m. US Eastern Time (11:15 p.m. German time). Centcom referred to these as “self-defense strikes.” Shortly before, Trump had already announced further attacks for “today”.

Iranian forces meanwhile attacked US ships near the Strait of Hormuz with missiles and drones, according to reports from Iranian state media. The Mehr news agency reports clashes at sea between Iranian and US units. There are also reports of several explosions in the Iranian port city of Gorgan and in Bandar Abbas. In Bandar Abbas, detonations were heard near the airport and a military base, reports the Irna news agency, citing its own reporter. The Press TV channel reports that the port city of Bandar Sirik was also hit by enemy projectiles.

After Trump, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also threatened Iran with new attacks. Given the ceasefire, Hegseth said the announced attacks were not about starting the war again. Instead, they want to set the conditions for an agreement.

Iran’s military command has ordered the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all ships, including oil tankers and merchant vessels, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported. Any ship attempting to pass through the strait would be attacked, it said.

The mullahs’ regime is apparently using its strongest means of pressure. Closing the road at the beginning of the war caused significant disruption in the global economy and, among other things, caused fuel and energy prices to rise sharply worldwide.

However, the US military denies the alleged complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz. “Merchant vessels continue to enter and exit the Strait of Hormuz tonight,” the US Middle East Regional Command Centcom said on X.

Despite the ceasefire, there had already been mutual shelling in the past few days. On Sunday, Iran’s armed forces fired rockets at Israel again for the first time, a good two months after the ceasefire began. Israel then attacked targets in Iran. Trump called on both countries for an immediate ceasefire, after which both sides declared that they would stop their attacks.
