As AI-generated artists and tracks flood music streaming platforms day by day, Spotify is rolling out a new “Verified by Spotify” badge to help listeners more easily identify real human artists.

Especially in this period when productive artificial intelligence is transforming the music industry, it is of great importance for listeners to know whether the profile they encounter really belongs to that artist. According to the statement made by the company, more than 99 percent of the artists actively searched by users received this green badge during the launch phase.

In the new system, listeners will now have a safer experience thanks to the green check marks that appear next to the artist names. However, the system has a very clear limit; Fictitious artist profiles created by artificial intelligence are not allowed to be included in this verification program.

Many different criteria, from an artist’s past concerts to their musical heritage, from their activity on social media accounts to their streaming and search charts, are considered one by one. In this way, the company aims to reinforce the trust environment on the platform.

In addition to verification badges, Spotify has also started testing a new section that includes important details about artists’ careers. In this section called “Artist details”; Brief information such as tours, important album releases or career milestones will be included.

The good thing is that the artist does not necessarily have to have an approved badge to access this information. In addition, “SongDNA” and “Artist Profile Protection” tools, which are in the testing phase, are among other important parts designed to increase the transparency of the system.
