Evaluating the April “Sectoral Inflation Expectations” survey announced by the CBRT today, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek stated that increasing energy costs were effective in deteriorating expectations.
Minister Şimşek said that increasing energy prices will negatively affect the inflation outlook in Türkiye.
Minister Şimşek’s evaluations are as follows;
“Increasing energy costs due to the war were effective in the deterioration in inflation expectations. While inflationary pressures are increasing on a global scale due to the oil price shock, a deterioration in expectations is observed.
Increasing energy prices are expected to negatively affect the inflation outlook in our country.
“We will continue to implement our policies to ensure price stability, which is a prerequisite for sustainable growth and permanent increase in welfare.”
