The well-known CNN journalist Wolf Blitzer told his broadcaster that he was standing very close to the shooter when he came from the toilet and wanted to go back to the event room. The shots were said to have been very loud. “It was terrifying.” The police then threw him to the ground.

The Secret Service evacuated not only the US President, First Lady and Vice President JD Vance, but also all Cabinet members. They include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. FBI chief Kash Patel is said to have been frantically talking on his cell phone, according to the pool report.

“We were sitting here and all of a sudden we heard loud ‘bang, bang, bang’ noises. Everyone crawled under the table and we didn’t know what was going on,” Kellie Meyer, a NewsNation correspondent, reported via cell phone shortly after the incident.

Television images showed security officers standing at the podium with machine guns. According to reports from the News Nation network that have not yet been officially confirmed, a suspect is said to have been shot. The White House press pool said a suspect had been “neutralized.”
