The statement made by Apple announced that, after a period of approximately 15 years, John Ternus, Head of Hardware Engineering, was appointed as CEO, replacing Tim Cook. Ternus will officially take over on September 1; Cook will remain in his role as Chief Executive Officer of the company.

Cook will work with Ternus during the transition period and will then support the company in specific areas, such as relations with policymakers around the world.

Tim Cook, who took office in 2011 after Steve Jobs resigned due to health problems, made Apple one of the most valuable companies in the world. During the Cook era, Apple became the first publicly traded company to reach a value of $1 trillion in 2018; Today, the market value of the company has reached 4 trillion dollars.

Cook, 65, stood out with his operational skills and supply chain management during his tenure. Although it is debated whether he achieved the status of a “technology visionary” like Jobs, Cook successfully led the company’s global expansion and the steady introduction of next-generation devices.
