The economy remains the most important issue for many Americans. 29 percent named it as the most pressing problem at the moment. When it comes to economic questions, inflation dominates: 45 percent see rising living costs as the biggest problem. Only 32 percent of respondents agree with Trump’s handling of inflation, while 68 percent disapprove. More than half express strong criticism. At the same time, 40 percent report that their personal financial situation has worsened compared to the previous year, while only 19 percent see an improvement. In addition, almost two thirds of those surveyed said that rising gasoline prices were a burden on their everyday lives.

Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict is also met with rejection by the majority. Two thirds of respondents are dissatisfied with his policies in this area, while about a third support them. Opposition clearly predominates among Democrats and independents, while a majority of Republicans continue to support Trump’s actions. At the same time, a clear majority of 61 percent of Americans are against further military action in Iran. 23 percent believe additional steps, including a possible ground operation, are conceivable, while 16 percent support a continuation of the current air strikes. The rejection of further military action is particularly pronounced among younger respondents.

Nicaraguan leader Daniel Ortega has accused US President Donald Trump of being “mentally deranged” over the Iran war. “A war waged the way the US president is currently doing is typical of someone who has lost his mind and thinks he can do anything he wants – any kind of cruelty,” Ortega said during an event in the capital Managua.

With Trump there is “a problem of mental instability,” Ortega continued. “As we say here, he’s lost his mind.” Ortega also criticized Trump for an image recently posted on his Truth Social platform that depicted the US president as Jesus healing a sick person. “How many did he actually heal?!” Ortega asked. “People will hold him accountable and find out how many he killed.”
