According to a report in the New York Times newspaper, the USA is insisting on a suspension of the nuclear program for at least twenty years, while Iran is only prepared to suspend it for five years.

US Vice President JD Vance, who led the US delegation in talks with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf, told Fox News on Monday that the US had made “great progress”. Tehran had been told where Washington could “show accommodation” and where it would remain unyielding. Trump insists that all enriched nuclear material be removed from Iran and that a mechanism for verification be established. Tehran has “moved in our direction, so I guess we would say we’ve seen some good signs, but they haven’t moved far enough,” Vance said, without giving further details.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says it has sent more than 171 tons of relief supplies to Iran. The aid organization announced that the first five of a total of 14 ICRC deliveries sent since the start of the war arrived yesterday.
