Dmitriy Bakanov, President of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), made statements about his country’s Moon program at the Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian parliament.

Stating that Russia continues to develop the Moon program with China, Bakanov noted that a total of 15 countries are planned to come together within the scope of the program.

Bakanov pointed out that studies on the structure of the Moon will accelerate this year and said, “We will scan it and complete the design of the landing module that will collect the Moon’s soil and transmit the data to the world. In 2026, the development of devices to examine the internal structure of the Moon will begin.” he said.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Roscosmos and the China National Space Administration in 2021 to establish a joint station to conduct research on the Moon.
