Yumaklı, who went to Aksaray to make various visits, told reporters after the greenhouse visit that agriculture is a strategic sector and that the world has seen very different events in the last 5 years.
Explaining that this situation started with the epidemic, global crises occurred, and recently, especially with the war conditions, everyone has a concern about food, Yumaklı said, “Therefore, when we say it is a strategic sector, we are trying to express how vital a sector it is. Especially with the beginning of the war conditions between Israel, the United States and Iran. Naturally, there was a concern about agricultural inputs. We said this from the first moment, we expressed many issues, we stated that we were prepared for them.” he said.
Asking citizens to wait and respect the ministry’s statements, Yumaklı said:
“Look, none of the things that were talked about in those first days exist now. However, unfortunately, the atmosphere that a group that was trying to create, which unfortunately prepared itself to have a bad thought or say a bad thing, even if it was a very minority, no longer exists. Therefore, thank God, all the precautions we have taken regarding agricultural inputs, especially fertilizer, are now in place. Of course, we are following the course of the war, and we have planned our activities and measures regarding these in the short, medium and long term, so there will be no problems.
We always said the new normal. So, we talked about climate change, we talked about global crises, and now we talked about geopolitical risks, as we all experience and follow. So, I have raised a very important concern in terms of food in the world among countries, not only those in the Middle East, but also Russia and Ukraine. Of course, it is possible to experience all of these from now on, but what we need to do, as a ministry responsible for production, as a ministry responsible for ensuring the food safety of the people of this country, is to get through these processes in the best way possible, hand in hand with our producers. “To ensure that our producers produce this in a sustainable way and that our consumers buy their products at affordable prices.”
Yumaklı stated that, as the ministry, they are working day and night on this issue.
Mentioning that all of these have different repercussions, Yumaklı said, “As all ministries responsible for their own issues under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we continue to work day and night. Hopefully, our country will emerge from this as least affected as possible.” he said.
“WE PLANNED 15 ORGANIZED AGRICULTURAL REGIONS USING GEOTHERMAL RESOURCES”
Yumaklı said that Türkiye ranks fourth in the world and second in Europe in greenhouse production.
Emphasizing that they have an important production power as a country, Yumaklı continued as follows:
“We have more potential to develop, we are working for it. We say it from time to time on different platforms, especially about creating organized agricultural zones using geothermal energy. Let’s say it here again. We planned 15 organized agricultural zones using geothermal resources. 3 of them have been implemented. 65 percent of the designated areas of these organized agricultural zones will consist of businesses like the ones we are currently in. We know that everyone has noticed the development in this regard, especially in the last 23 years, but I would like to give a few figures. The last 23 years.” “Our greenhouse assets increased by 44 percent annually, reaching 776 thousand decares. 91 percent of these greenhouses consist of vegetables, 8 percent of fruit and 1 percent of ornamental plants. When the production in the organized agricultural zones reaches its full capacity, we will be able to produce 1 million tons of tomatoes. In this regard, I especially request our producers to follow the rural development supports, TKD supports and the lending incentives and supports we have provided with Ziraat Bank.”
Yumaklı stated that they increased Rural Development Support by up to 70 percent with the notification published in the official newspaper last night.
BASIC SUPPORT PAYMENTS WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO PRODUCERS’ ACCOUNTS TODAY
Yumaklı stated that these grants were given up to 20 million lira in the investment project amount and that they have now increased this figure to 30 million, and concluded his words as follows:
“We said that we would allocate rural development supports especially to women and young entrepreneurs, so let’s say it again, 20 percent of this budget is allocated to women and young people and 30 percent to family businesses. I hereby invite all my brothers who are devoted to agricultural production to take part in agricultural production by taking advantage of these incentives and supports. We have also added developments regarding technological and digitalization to the projects to be applied for. I would like to express the good news. 17.2 billion related to basic supports to the accounts of our producers. “The TL payment will be completed as of today. With the support payments continuing in line with our plans, with a total payment of 33 billion lira on April 10 and 17, we will now have completed the basic support, production planning support and forage crops support with a figure of over 81 billion. I hope it will be fruitful. I would like to thank our producers once again for their efforts and efforts.”
