Another member of Donald Trump’s cabinet is leaving: after Homeland Security Secretary Noem, it’s now over for the next minister.

US President Donald Trump dismisses his Justice Minister Pam Bondi. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will initially take over her duties, the Republican wrote on the Truth Social platform. “We greatly value Pam, and she will assume a much-needed and important new position in the private sector, which will be announced shortly,” Trump said.

On X, Bondi thanked Trump for his time in the Cabinet. Her time as secretary fell into by far the most momentous first year of the Justice Department in a presidential term in the history of the United States.

Blanche assured Trump that the department would continue to enforce the law and do everything possible to keep the United States safe. He praised Bondi’s performance on

There have been rumors about Bondi’s dismissal for a long time. The 60-year-old is the second minister to leave Trump’s cabinet within weeks. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had to resign beforehand.

The New York Times reported, citing four people, that Trump had discussed firing Bondi in recent days. He is said to have become increasingly frustrated with her leadership at the ministry and her handling of the Epstein files.

Bondi responsible for Epstein files

Decades ago, the extremely rich financier from New York, Jeffrey Epstein, ran an abuse ring that victimized young women and minors. Epstein had excellent contacts in high society in the USA and many other countries. He died in his prison cell in 2019, further fueling speculation.

The scandal hit the headlines again with the publication of the investigation files. The US government is trying to keep him as far away from Trump as possible. The publication of the investigation files, required by law, was Bondi’s responsibility. There were disruptive moments. For example, critics of the government denounced the many redacted passages in the files. Bondi also became mired in contradictions surrounding the existence of a fabled Epstein client list.

Bondi should take action against Trump’s opponents

According to the New York Times, Trump was also said to be dissatisfied that Bondi had not used her office decisively enough to take legal action against his opponents.

Trump has never made a secret of his expectations of the Justice Department. In September, for example, he used social media to directly call on Bondi to take action against people he saw as enemies. US presidents before Trump have traditionally attached great importance to leaving no doubt about the independence of the judiciary.

Bondi was actually considered a confidante

When she took office, the former attorney general of the state of Florida was considered a loyal confidant of the Republican. When nominating her for the post, Trump referred to her 20 years of experience as a prosecutor. Bondi had already supported Trump in the first impeachment trial in 2019.
