The number of electric cars registered to traffic in Türkiye increased by 92 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 395 thousand 697 as of February 2026.
According to the information compiled from the Turkish Statistical Institute data, the number of cars registered to traffic in Türkiye as of February was calculated as 17 million 523 thousand 423.
The number of electric vehicles, which have less carbon emissions, provide energy efficiency and help reduce noise pollution by operating silently compared to other fuel types, has increased significantly in recent years, along with the increase in charging stations.
The entry of Türkiye’s car, Togg, into the market and the shift in user preferences in this direction were also effective in this increase.
THE NUMBER OF ELECTRIC CARS HAS REACHED 400 THOUSAND
While the number of electric cars registered in traffic was only 565 in 2015, it reached 183 thousand 776 in 2024 and 370 thousand 591 by 2025.
The number of electric cars, which was recorded as 206 thousand 22 in February 2025, was calculated as 395 thousand 697, an increase of 92 percent as of last month.
On the other hand, the share of electric cars in registered cars was recorded as 2.3 percent.
GREAT INTEREST IN HYBRID CARS
Data on hybrid type automobiles was recorded for the first time in 2011, with 23 units.
While the number of hybrid cars registered in traffic increased to 13 thousand 877 in 2019, it was calculated as 222 thousand 328 by the end of 2023 and 391 thousand 296 in 2024. This number increased to 741 thousand 149 as of February 2026.
The share of hybrid type cars in the total was recorded as 4.2 percent as of last month, while it was 4 percent in 2025.
