The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul lost 2.79 percent of its value in the first half of the day, falling to 12,684.03 points.

BIST 100 index, which moved in a downward trend in the first half of the day, fell to 12,684.03 points as of 13:00, a decrease of 363.69 points and 2.79 percent compared to the previous close.

Total transaction volume was 82.4 billion lira. The banking index lost 5.85 percent and the holding index lost 2.72 percent.

Among the sector indices, the only increase was seen in chemicals, petroleum and plastic with 1.13 percent, while the sharpest decrease was in mining with 7.18 percent.

While global markets followed a negative course due to the harshening discourses on the US-Iran line, increasing attacks and rising geopolitical tension, the BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul followed a negative course in the first half of the day in parallel with the sales in global markets.

According to domestic data, the consumer confidence index decreased by 0.8 percent on a monthly basis in March, falling to 85.

In addition, downward price limits for some precious metal-based investment instruments traded on Borsa Istanbul have been extended for today. The lower price limit rate was increased during GMSTR.F Exchange Traded Fund and ALTIN.S1 Commodity Certificate. Based on the request of the Primary Dealer Institution, the 10 percent lower price limit rate applied during the GMSTR.F Exchange Traded Fund has been increased to 20 percent as of 11:00 today.

Analysts stated that weekly money and bank statistics in the country, Chicago Fed national activity index in the USA and consumer confidence index data in the Euro Zone will be followed for the rest of the day, and stated that technically, 12,500 and 12,400 points in the BIST 100 index are support and 12,800 and 12,900 points are resistance.
