Last week, the US lost three fighter jets in the war with Iran. Now the armed forces are reporting the next loss – but the background is still unclear.

The US armed forces say they lost a tanker plane in the war with Iran. “The incident occurred in friendly airspace,” the US command responsible for the region (Centcom) said on X. It was neither due to enemy fire nor to friendly fire. The rescue efforts continued.

According to Centcom, two aircraft were involved in the incident. One landed safely, the other, the KC-135, “came down” in the west of Iraq. Further details about the incident were initially not known.
