Irritation at the presidential Christmas call
Trump lies to five-year-olds

The presidential Christmas calls are actually apolitical. Trump breaks this rule and tells a child about an election victory that never happened.
It’s a tradition in the United States: Every Christmas, children who try to call Santa Claus are directed to the White House, where the President and First Lady answer their calls. Same this year. Normally these phone calls are deliberately kept apolitical. However, Donald Trump also broke with this tradition.
This is how Trump told a five-year-old child from the state of Pennsylvania the lie that he had won the state three times: “Pennsylvania is great. We won Pennsylvania, three times actually, we won Pennsylvania. We won in a landslide. That’s why I love Pennsylvania.” It is correct that Trump won Pennsylvania twice, in 2016 and 2024. In 2020 he lost the state to Joe Biden. However, Trump still does not acknowledge his defeat to this day.
Trump asked an eight-year-old from North Carolina: “How old are you? You sound so beautiful and sweet! You sound so smart.” Trump later told her: “Santa isn’t mad if you don’t leave him any cookies. But I think he’ll be very disappointed. You know, he’s got a little bit of baby fat.”
Another child told the president about his concern that Santa would only bring her a lump of coal instead of a real gift. Trump’s response: “Yes, not coal! Or – do you mean clean, beautiful coal? Coal is clean and beautiful, please don’t forget that!”
With Jasper from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Trump spoke about immigration: “Santa Claus is a very good person. We want to make sure that he doesn’t get infiltrated, that a bad Santa Claus doesn’t infiltrate our country. But we found out that Santa Claus is good. Santa Claus loves you. Santa Claus loves Oklahoma, just like I do. You know, Oklahoma was very good to me during the election. I love Oklahoma. Never leave Oklahoma, okay?” Jasper promised.
