Big attacks on horseback – that was the war of the day before yesterday. But even in the Ukraine war, everything that helps soldiers move quickly on the battlefield is important.
Ukrainian troops say they encountered individual mounted Russian soldiers at the front. The Ukrainian Army’s 92nd Special Assault Brigade posted a video on Telegram that purportedly shows two enemy soldiers on horses or mules being eliminated by small FPV drones.
“The Russian occupiers lose their equipment so quickly in their “flesh attacks” (meaning costly assaults) that they are forced to move around on horses,” the post says. According to the video, at least one of the animals is injured. According to analyses, the recordings could have been taken in the southern Dnipropetrovsk region.
However, the use of mounts in the Ukrainian War has little to do with the large cavalry attacks of past centuries. According to the video, the Russian soldiers are trying to cross a large empty field as quickly as possible. In this war, both sides monitor the entire battlefield with drones; unnoticed movements are almost impossible. There is hardly any way for armored vehicles to get through.
That is why the Russian army is relying on its advance to quickly advance against Ukrainian positions with small shock troops and establish themselves there. According to previous video evidence, off-road motorcycles, quads, e-bikes and e-scooters are also used as means of transport. In the same way, Ukrainian soldiers move around on e-mountain bikes or scooters.
