Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that 9.2 million tourists visited Türkiye in the first quarter.
Minister Ersoy said, “The figures revealed Türkiye’s high capacity in crisis management.” he said.
Tourism revenue increased by 4.2 percent in the first quarter, consisting of January, February and March, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 9 billion 896 million 456 thousand dollars. Tourism income from visitors was 9 billion 694 million 574 thousand dollars, and tourism income from transfer passengers was 201 million 883 thousand dollars. 25.6 percent of visitors’ tourism income was made up of citizens residing abroad who visited our country.
The number of visitors departing from our country increased by 1.5 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 9 million 258 thousand 129 people. 25.7 percent of the visitors were citizens residing abroad, with 2 million 376 thousand 343 people.
The average nightly expenditure of overnight visitors in our country in this quarter was 102 dollars. The average nightly expenditure of citizens residing abroad was 72 dollars.
In this quarter, the share of food and beverage expenditures in tourism income from visitors was 27 percent, the share of international transportation expenditures was 15.8 percent, and the share of accommodation expenditures was 13 percent. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, accommodation expenditures increased by 21.2 percent, health expenditures increased by 18.4 percent, and food and beverage expenditures increased by 13.7 percent.
