The astronomers revealed the presence of a new radio galaxy, 30 times the size of the Samanyolu galaxy with a gigantic plasma jets dating back to 3 million light years with observation of the meerkat telescope in South Africa. The astronomers called the galaxy as ‘Incathazo’, which means ‘problem’ in Isizulu and Isixhosa, one of the indigenous languages of South Africa.

Observations made by Meerkat Telescope showed that some electrons gain energy in different parts of the galaxy, maping plasma ages in a mysterious way.

Scientists think that this can be caused by interaction with hot gases in the surrounding area. In recent years, the number of giant radio galaxies discovered thanks to the meerkat telescope has been increasing rapidly. As one of the last three major discoveries, INTATHAZO shows that there may be huge structures that are still waiting to be discovered in the sky.
