The releases are documents the committee obtained after subpoenaing Epstein’s estate administration office as part of its own investigation into the federal investigation into Epstein. The documents are unredacted and not sorted.

Importantly, these are not the Justice Department’s official investigation files against Epstein – sometimes called the “Epstein Files”. These are still not open to the public. However, House Democrats managed to get four of their Republican colleagues to sign a petition forcing a vote to release the Epstein files.

The Republican leader of the House Chamber, Mike Johnson, announced that the vote would be scheduled for next week. If the vote is successful, the attorney general would be required to release “all documents and materials related to Jeffrey Epstein in the possession of the Department of Justice” – minus identifying information from victims – within 30 days.
